Norristown, PA – (November 26, 2024) – State Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-Montgomery/Delaware) is pleased to announce that the Montgomery District Library Center in Norristown has been awarded a grant from the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority through the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP). This funding will enable the library to provide 200 laptops to local residents, helping to bridge the digital divide and improve access to educational, workforce development, health, and employment resources.
The DCTP is a key initiative designed to equip nonprofits, community anchor institutions, and local governments with the technology needed to foster greater opportunity for Pennsylvanians. The laptops will be made available to residents of the Montgomery County area for loan, ensuring that individuals who may not otherwise have access to necessary technology can improve their skills, education, and job prospects.
“This grant is a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to ensure that every Pennsylvanian has the tools needed to succeed in today’s digital world,” said Senator Amanda Cappelletti. “With this grant, the Montgomery District Library Center will be able to empower community members, providing them with essential technology for education, career development, and more. Access to technology is crucial in today’s society, and I’m thrilled to see this investment in our community.”
The Digital Connectivity Technology Program is part of the Commonwealth’s broader efforts to support digital equity, workforce development, and education through technology access. Senator Cappelletti continues to advocate for investments in broadband and digital infrastructure that enable all Pennsylvanians to fully participate in today’s economy.
