About

Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti represents the Seventeenth Senatorial District, covering parts of Montgomery and Delaware Counties. Senator Cappelletti is an attorney with her Master of Public Health and has been passionate about bettering her community since grade school.

Senator Cappelletti got her start in government serving on the East Norriton Board of Supervisors, where she led the conversation in police reform and successfully decriminalized marijuana. Senator Cappelletti has worked in Harrisburg to advance progressive policy through her work with former Representative Donna Bullock and as a Fellow for the ACLU of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the first group awarded the William Penn Fellowship through the Governor’s office: first as an advocate for children at the Office of Child Development and Early Learning, and then at the Department of Human Services as a policy specialist tracking legislation to assess implementation.

In the Pennsylvania Senate, Senator Cappelletti has prioritized fighting for safe and healthy communities, using her public health expertise to fight for action on climate change and address the increasing gun violence epidemic. Currently serving as the Democratic Chair of the Senate State Government Committee, Senator Cappelletti leads the conversation on expanding access to the ballot and combatting misinformation around Pennsylvania’s elections.

As a fierce reproductive rights advocate and the former Director of Policy at Planned Parenthood, Senator Cappelletti continues to be at the front lines of fighting for reproductive freedoms and comprehensive healthcare in Pennsylvania. She serves as the co-chair of the Pennsylvania Women’s Health Caucus and fights for accessible and affordable healthcare, including reproductive healthcare, for all Pennsylvanians.

A life-long resident of Pennsylvania, Senator Cappelletti grew up in Boyertown with her parents and older brother where she graduated from Boyertown Area Senior High. She attended Chestnut Hill College for her undergraduate degree, and received her Law Degree and Master’s in Public Health from Temple University.

Senator Cappelletti made history in her first term, becoming the first person to give birth while serving as a Senator in Pennsylvania, when she gave birth to her daughter in March of 2023. She currently resides in East Norriton with her husband, Gregory McQuiston, a U.S. Navy veteran, her daughter Taglia, and her two adorable rescue dogs, Luna and Luca.
