Norristown, PA – February 8, 2023 – Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-17 Montgomery/Delaware) today presented a grant to The Salvation Army in Norristown. The state grant for $100,000 will allow The Salvation Army to continue providing services that support families and individuals struggling financially.

“I am proud to bring this funding to The Salvation Army, an organization that helps so many of our community members and families when they need it most,” said Senator Cappelletti. “While families are struggling with economic hardship, it is important that organizations like this have the proper resources to provided needed services for our community.”

Due to economic repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of families experiencing hardships across Norristown and Montgomery County has risen considerably. Prior to the pandemic, poverty and food insecurity already affected the area. The virus has left lasting effects on the supply chain and the economy, intensifying the struggle for community members who are trying to make ends meet. This funding will allow The Salvation Army to help meet the need of our most vulnerable populations.

“We are grateful for this support from Senator Cappelletti.  These resources are an investment in the people of Norristown and Montgomery County-at-large, enabling us to continue to meet the needs of struggling families and individuals each day.  From a night at the shelter, to a bag of food, The Salvation Army is committed to doing the most good, for the most people, in the most need.  Without private and governmental partners, we would certainly struggle to support the people of this great County,” said Envoy Zuheil and Travis Barton, Administrators at The Salvation Army of Norristown.
